Hex and Xen were the top choice, anything else to consider?

I've got a Specialised Vice, which I can thoroughly recommend. Very comfortable and fits better than the Met Kaos I had before.

I tried on a few helmets, and found that the most comfortable were the Fox Flux and Giro Xen, and to be quite honest it went down to price. However, since purchasing the Fox Flux, it has been very comfortable, and suprisingly (for a weighty lid) satisfyingly cool even on the hottest of days.

    Hope this helps?

What the good Capt said. Always choose what fits best.

Giro always fitted me well in the past, tried the Flux a couple of years ago and didn't like it. Obviously one that fits but thought there might be some new options

All about fit. I wanted a Xen, they rub the back of my head, didn't want a Flux as they're so huuuuuge and ugly and have the pointless wing attached but the fit was incredibly good so I got one of those. It's not a great helmet, it just happens to be the right one for me.

Mets and Bells fit me best- just don't get on with Giros so I've never owned one, even though on paper they're the ones I'd probably choose.
Unfortunately most places have Giro and not much else!

i can't get on with the Xen, so i'm probably going to get either a flux or a specialized 2D

Giro have fitted me for years but I don't get on with the Xen at all.

The Hex is a different shape (internally), but when I bought one about 18 months ago I found that the ventilation is terrible. I've never ridden in such a sweat inducing helmet. Even in the coldest of winter night rides, I was still getting sweat dripping down my face. The straps always rubbed against my ears as well, no matter how I adjusted them. Not a helmet I'd rate.

It's now kept for very late night rides, and has been replaced with a Bell Variant, which feels literally like a breath of fresh air compared with the Giro. 🙂
