Anyone fitted a Hope headset recently?
I ask as I’m just fitting one to a set of Maverick SC32’s & the crown race is slack on the bottom of the steerer tube – I’ve got a WTB headset here & that is tight on the steerer, has the interference fit been worn by fitting?

    aren’t they split races?

And i assume that it will tighten up when the lower bearings race seats on it.

No its not split race – the only thing I can think is that the interference fit has worn or they rely on the torquing down to press everything together but if the lower bearing siezes then its possible that the crown race could rotate on the steerer & wear through it!

use the wtb race..it can’t be that far of a different race angle.

My HS and race aren’t compatible but work fine….

However my shonky maintainance and bike care shows…

No can do – the WTB is ball bearing & the Hope is a sealed bearing jobby, I’ll give hope a ring later.

I’ve had it before when the race becomes stretched slightly,it’s probably best to fit a new race. Be careful when fitting or removing these as it’s very easy to crush the groove that seats the o-rings, and once this happens it won’t fit into the bottom cup, or seal properly.
