23 months here and it was hell, yes I can still remember! Two in nappies, not funny. Double buggy, not funny.

between the wife and her brother an sister there was a 7yr gap.
Between my mum and her brothers and sisters (there were 6 kids in total) theres around 18 months between them.
for ours the wife said about 3 years would be ideal, so we did 3yrs and a day

Ours are 15 months apart - on purpose.
It meant that we got all the sleepless nights, bottles, nappies etc out of the way.

We deliberately did, E is 3 years 4 months and H is 18 months on the dot. We were lucky that there didn't seem to be any problems with the getting pregnant bit.
It's been great, hard work at times, but great. E had self weaned before mrslister got pregnant again which took the pressure off her boobs and he was eating, sleeping, talking, walking well before H turned up. He genuinely doesn't remember not having H around.
Now H is over 1 they are very close friends, E has taken to being a big brother really well and H adores him, she'll do anything he says! When they wake up they are much happier to see each other than either of their parents!
Hopefully H will be out of nappies by the end of the summer, I couldn't imagine training one, then having to start again with a new one, becuase they overlapped in nappies it seems to be going faster.
Bad things, double nappy duty, potential for E's sleep patterns to be disturbed by newborn H, generally hectic lifestyle! We went for a pub lunch today and they both were pains in the bum, now H is walking there are 2 little bodies to bugger off and run into the kitchen/bar/toilets etc!
But...as time goes by we're hoping they will be good playmates through the next few years and will grow up together.
It may not suit everyone but it's working with us so far (too late tochange things though!)

Our two are 23 months apart, now aged 2 and 4. Hard work on arrival of the second but now they play together and get on well (mostly!). No regrets here.

Ours are 7 minutes apart. We have known no different but it ain't that hard really. Apart from having to explain to people there is no such thing as 'nearly identical' twins.

3 boys, all 2 years apart, perfect
and they've always got on pretty well with each other. Never went down the double buggy route myself . . . baby sling and buggy with eldest standing on the back when he got tired . . . gotta be a damn side quicker than trying to load three wriggling kids into a 4 x 4

Ours are 2 years apart (2 of them to the day). Eldest is now 20, middle 18, and youngest just 17 (eldest and middle both born on April 1st!!). Wouldn't have it any other way - they all get on with each other, and they go to gigs etc together, and get on with each others mates. Any further apart and they would be strangers to each other.
As for the younger years bit, it can be hard but it's worth it - my youngest didn't stop sleeping in our bed until he was 6, and he always slept with his feet near my head - a bit too near most of the time.
Mind you, a girl at school was in the same class as her sister - 11.5 months apart. With a parents head on, that feels a little close for comfort.

deliberately 20 months apart here, and it was busy but not ridiculous. Now at 3 and 5 they play nicely most of the time.

Best thing about close age is they do same things /want to see same films.rides at days out etc. They are good pals and play together most of time.
Was difficult with two in nappies, when one was walking and other just started was hard work also but dont regret it. Get it over and done with.
I have friends with kids 6 years apartand a family holiday or even days out are a problem - hard to find something they will both do.Posted 2 years ago # -
Our 2 boy's are around 19 months apart, this was deliberate on our part. It was pretty tough at the start as the youngest did not sleep much but now its great, the youngest one is 20 months and they now quite happily kick the shit out of each other morning noon and night...

Does having a son and a grandson 9 months apart count?
They get on really well are in the same school, luckily (or deliberately) not in the same class as they would cause riots!
Our kids have huge age ranges, but the two that are closest are the middle girls with only 12 months between them are the best of friends, whilst my 10 year old thinks my 28 year old is the bossiest cow in the whole wide world.

My grandma had 11 kids (9 survived) before she was 29. Does that count! (my dad, the youngest, was born in 1931)

One minute apart, it's not that bad really, you just do what you have to. Sometimes they are hard work and sometimes they're angels, explaining that identical twins aren't genetic and being stopped by people when you try and go shopping does get frustrating ssometimes though.

Fraternal twins are genetic, so you will get a family with a history of fraternal twins, identical twins, where one egg splits into two, are entirely random.

I was asked a couple of weeks ago about our twins 'are they identical'? to which I replied 'no'.
I was then asked 'ohh - are they nearly identical then'?
