Rode through a patch of hawthorn hedge trimmings and got flats in both wheels. Replaced tubes, rode about another 30 feet and got another flat in the front wheel. Cursing, repaired tube in pitch park and tried to re-inflate. Cue my trusty Topeak pump exploding in spectacular fashion, firing bits of piston / plastic / springs etc all over the trail.

Very slowly wobbled 8 miles home (mostly road) on a flat front tyre. Is this likely to have knackered the rim (and if it has, how do I tell?) or should I just bung a new tube in and hope for the best?

It may have dented the rim – an issue for rim brakes and perhaps tubeless.

    Otherwise you’ll be OK.

More likely to have wrecked the tyre.Take off any burrs (if there are any) with some wet dry and she’ll be reet (probly).

Tyre off. Spin the wheel…does it wobble side to side at all? Up and down?

If not, its good, if a little, it needs advice from a bike shop.

Should have just stuffed the tyre full of undergrowth, leaves, twigs etc. Got me home a few times.

Genius. I should invent a device that injects expanding foam into the dodgy tube.
