    Hey all,

Just about to pull the trigger on a GPS unit and wanted to check I'm doing it right… 🙄

I'm looking to just follow a route and record rides. The usual GPS stuff. I'm not so worried about having an OS map on my bars as I'll always have one on me.

I'm about purchase a Garmin eTrex Vista HCx + a 2gb SD card and handle bar mount kit.

I assume then I buy something like Tracklogs for regions I want to ride in. And then use those talkytoasteruk maps on the actual unit.

    Am I missing anything?

Cheers and sorry for another GPS question!

Use Tracklogs on PC to plot your rides. They won't load to your GPS, but the toastytalk maps will. You've got it about right.

Could be done (most probably) for less with the plain vanilla eTrex H and Quo mapping.

I've got an old Summit and use it with Memory-map and it works real well.
Another programme is the freebee Where's the path( OS & GoogleEarth side by side) which looks good but I am having difficulty with it talking to my Summit at the mo.
