One of the last pieces of my Cotic build arrived yesterday morning - an MRP 1X chain guide.

Yesterday evening I set about fitting the chain guide.

After a couple of hours (I kid you not) a replacement bolt (main bolt) some custom shims the guide still slightly rubs and almost catches my cranks. :evil:

I am pretty good with the whole maintenance at home thing so it was a massive shock to be stumped by so little

Maiden voyage will be coming soon and will determine the fate of the MRP.

Any body else had such problems?

YES!

I ended up shimming the guide at the top mount to both space it out from the arm and make the chain gap a bit wider. Couldn't do the same to the bottom bolt as it seems to be made of cheese and started to round at the first attempt with a decent allen key.

It's kind of alright now but I'm still going to try tweaking the chainline with some narrow HT2 spacers.

The E-13 looks a bit better from what I remember but the MRP seemed to be the right thing when I bought it a couple of months ago.

Weird, mine went on with no issues and only took 10-15 minutes. This is on a Charge Duster with Truvativ Stylo cranks. No need to shim the cage out at all.

I had the same problems with the E.13 version. Can't shim the guide on it either. Ended up having to use a variety of BB spacers and washers on the chainring bolts. Not pretty, but it seems to work now.

I use a Rohloff chain guide, bit more expensive but attaches to the seat tube so you can swivel it to get perfect alignment (not that this helps in any way with your problems - sorry).

Fine here, old LX cranks. Did take a bit of fiddling, rotating around the BB, but no shimming in/out. Sorry.
