My road bike brakes are pretty terrifying in the wet. Considering building up a 700c wheel with a rotor and using Avid BB7's. Am wondering what my options are regarding forks, discs and full mudguards. At the moment im thinking the Cotic approach of putting the tabs on the front is the best way to go. What are peoples experiences with trying the above?

Why on the front? I have Kinesis DC19s/Avid BB7s on my "road" bike and they work perfectly well. Full SKS musduards too.

If youve got sks guards the bars are easy to bend around the caliper, like someones done in the pic below...

So the strut of the mudguard doesnt interfere with the caliper?

OK. That looks fairly neat. I guess the caliper doesnt stick out too far.

That's what EBC did to my Croix de Fer. I bent them round the bottom of the caliper instead in a kind of a 'J' shape.

I would just add, definitely keep the release clips fitted. They are not an optional extra, and the installation shown in the photo above is potentially very dangerous. Somebody posted a great picture on here a year or two back, showing what happened to his bike after something jammed in a mudguard fitted without QR clips!
You should be able to fit them with discs OK.
