i recently changed the front mech on my Klein Attitude to an XTR bottom swing. After years of crap shifting at the front i finally realised that there isn't room between the frame and the granny ring for the original top swing mech to change down, it just fowled the frame. as a result of this the new mech was a revelation (and so it should be at that price)
BUT
the change of cable path (bottom pull) has resulted in the cable fowling on the frame and it's started to saw it's way through the chain stay and is causing the cable to fray.
Have i angered the MTB gods by fitting a bottom swing mech on a bike designed for a top swing? Is there a top swing mech that will provide enough clearance for the granny ring or do i need to buy a longer BB? (not easy as it's square taper)
help!
