Don’t bring the EU thread in here thanks.
Also interesting - no mega-sized font this time. Odd.

It's OK - for everyone's sakes there are now posts by certain users that I can no longer see 😀
@aracer - it seems there are [ size=12] [ /size] tags after the < blockquote> markup
Yeah that seemed to disappear late yesteday afternoon, thankfully.

Still can’t paste in android if there is no txt already in the reply box.
I can copy but the usual press and hold to get the paste menu fails.
You need to click in the box.
Then you'll see a flashing cursor top left.
Press on that to get the Paste option.
Once pasted, select the bit you've just put in, click on the Eraser icon on the toolbar (to remove copied formatting), the click on the Blockquote icon. You'll see that this indents the quoted text.
Once you've done that, hit Return a couple of times until the cursor goes back to the left margin.
Now enter your own comments.

Those are added by the extension, I was fed up with the extra large quotes.
Unfortunately having a line break between paragraphs stops it working (I've looked at the generated HTML and can see what is happening) which is why the second bit goes big again - I'd thought maybe you were adding extra [ quote] tags to make it happen, but them I tried it myself - clearly I hadn't tested that since adding those.
Fairly sure I can fix that, but it's not high priority (TBH my preference is to fix the style sheet - or maybe they can do that server side...)
Any news if the old 'Forum Activity' feature is going to be fixed? Really miss this.
Have STW hired Ling to do the updates?

Far as I'm aware, it is? Click the "posted ... ago" link to go to the parent thread.
Don’t work for me on iOS and Safari.
tried to post in the swimming thread, failed. Techno luddite here, so can't follow most of this thread.
Others have asked, and I reiterate, can there please be a sticky 'read only' thread with simple clear instructions on how the hell to work all the symbols, quotes, edits etc'
This is rapidly falling into the 'to hard to bother' box for me, and I expect many others, which is a real shame, as I have always valued the forum as a great goto place for advice and information, bike and non bike.
Thanks

Nope - not that bit.
I mean the bit that was in the membeer profile drop-down at the top right of the screen. You use to be able to see what threads you had posted on (as well as those you started), and go directly to those threads.
When you click 'Forum' from the drop-down now you see - "Topics Started", "Replies Created" and "Favorites"/
The "Topics started" bit works fine.
The "Replies Created" doesn't work at all. You can't see any thread titles and if you click on the 'Posted ... hours ago' it just pins that reply to the top of the screen.
"Favorites" seems to do nothing at all - apart from list tons of threads you've had no involvement in!
(on Mac OS High Sierra, Firefox, Safari and Chrome!)
For anybody interested I've done a quick update of the Chrome extension - link is the same as before: https://goo.gl/6h9thV
It now overrides the stylesheet for quote boxes to make the text a sensible size - the bonus of doing it this way is that it fixes everybody's quotes. Ah, that's better!
(the obvious downside is that http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/forum-update/page/24/#post-9806730 is less entertaining than it was)

I'm a bit worried that you are going to fix everything client side so no-one will bother about the actual bug reports! Don't think that the extensions will work on mobile chrome will they?

aracer made this all possible
PS all hail the kill file

I'm more concerned that the opposite may be true. A lot of this thread isn't reporting new bugs but re-reporting the same ones and there are plenty of users not using the extension so we'll still see reports I'm sure.
But if the codebase changes - and it surely will - this might throw up incompatibilities with Aracer's plugin and generate apparent new "bugs" which aren't actually bugs in the forum at all. I'm speculating here of course, I don't know the first thing about the plugin. Aracer, what do you reckon?
If nothing else, if you use the plugin and report bugs, please specify that you're using it (or better yet, test without before reporting) please.

Sorry no, desktop only (I wasn't even sure it worked on a Mac, but it seems it's working for zokes).
To be fair updating that was mostly a case of changing the tags it searches for to match how they've changed them here - as mentioned, the edit box fix was really simple, as was the stylesheet override. The site devs have a lot more to do. Nor can I fix a lot of stuff client side.
Has the standard font in posts just got a lot smaller (Chrome/Win10)? It's now smaller than the text being used when I enter this comment and I'm sure it wasn't previously. In fact, I think I'm going to have to find some sort of over-ride as it's too small to read comfortably.

Given the apparent current usage of the site, I presume the majority can't use the extension. Though as for the former point, then the original author of that (he did most of the work, updating is the easy bit for that) suggested a bit earlier that a sticky outlining known problems might be useful http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/forum-update/page/28/#post-9807863

It's really chvck's, not mine, but yes that could be an issue. I presume most of the new site is fixed though in terms of the structure of the HTML, which is what the extension relies on, so there's a good chance nothing will break with that, but if it does it should just be extension functionality which breaks. Good advice to test without it though, and it's dead easy to disable from chrome://extensions/ where you added it. I do that occasionally just to check - and TBH I'm probably on here often enough to notice any issues, I should be able to keep up with any changes fairly quickly (there are a couple of bits which are particularly reliant on the HTML structure I'm keeping an eye on).
Broken edit function is broken.
I don't have any buttons above the text box where you could choose formatting or adding links etc.
Chrome on android.
Sorry if this has been mentioned already
Cheers Aracer, that's really helpful. Thanks for getting back to me.

Or can't be arsed as the forum, whilst far from perfect, is working well enough for people to post and read threads.
I'm not installing that new version of the extension (and I've disabled the old version) so as not to confuse any problems.
I presume most of the new site is fixed
Not so I'd notice. Still no buttons. Still no useful way to find threads I posted in. Not trying to be a dick but I'm not renewing my premium until the forum is at least half-way functional again.

Just tried to post from my mobile again this morning and gave up...just not working at all with swiftkey and I'm not uninstalling that.
I'd like to know if there is an aim to get back to less clicks to do something rather than more? At the moment everything takes more effort which makes it less usable.

so how do you quote without getting the extra bits of code stuff round it ? I copied the text, pasted it it, then hit the quote button, then clicked below it to make it not blue, then hit return twice

the second time I used the quite button before and after pasting in the text, still crap.
I thought the internet these days was meant to be user friendly... 🙁
This is like back to the 80s and Commodore 64's. Rubbish, just rubbish 🙁

If only somebody would pin a sticky with some basic instructions 🙁
Copy
Paste
Highlight and use the eraser button to clean it (might go different style)
then quote the text using the quote button when highlighted
then unhighlight and hit enter twice
<p style="margin: 10px 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; background: #eeeeee; line-height: 1.2em; color: #444444;">Copy</p>

ach, I give up, will come back in a few days 🙁
I struggle with long sentences, but will last post by, preview, buttons/emojis, topics I posted in be returning? The only thing new that I can see/use is the classifieds being bumped.
Oh, and edit!!
Copy
Paste
Highlight and use the eraser button to clean it (might go different style)
then quote the text using the quote button when highlighted
then unhighlight and hit enter twice
aha 🙂
Any way of getting around the "page not found" when I hit the edit function guys? 🙁

The above is what happens when I copied those instructions to quote.
No idea where the emoji came from

A truly minor gripe - When viewing the forum in a window ( Win 7, IE) the right hand side of the text is obscured by the scroll bar.
I demand that this is rectified instantly.* If not, I shall immediately cancel my subscription*** and doom the owners of the forum to a live of abject poverty.
* not really 😉
** Don't actually have one
And that was just highlighting & using the Quote button.
Bizarrely, when I try to reply in less that a minute after posting I get an error message saying Slow down, you move too fast.

Another test...
That emoji is very odd as it wasn’t there earlier. 😂
That method doesn’t work for everyone, other features don’t work or not for everyone either so seems pointless posting any instructions until things are functioning. Might need to put a sticky up for Mike about this as he’s forgotten that’s been said already.
Windows 7? Didn’t know you worked in the NHS Perchy.
