I have a set of forks I’m trying to claim warranty on. They have an air leak which requires topping up every day.

Now I have been told it is very unlikely they will get warrantied because they have a gash down one of the stanchions.
I came off and the stanchion scraped a rock. It’s about half way up the travel and not really deep.

Would it be fair warranty is refused on this basis? Before I go shouting.

Pump them up hard. spray some soapy water on the area of the scratch.
If bubbles appear then, its the scratch.
If the bubbles come from somewhere else, then that’s the problem.

Pretty sure the scratch can’t cause the air leak.
What I’m hoping to gauge is does a damaged stanchion usually void fork warranty?

Depends on brand & distributor, age of forks, internal & external condition etc

Their issue, I would assume to be the potential for dirt ingress from the mark and potential for further problems from it.

With out seeing the forks you can’t really judge the validity of the claim I’m afraid.
