more good stuff:
paris
kmd
leaders of the new school (busta rhymes’s old band)
pete rock and cl smooth
gang starr
Strong Island by JVC Force, utterly brilliant track. Use to hear it all the time on pirate stations in London circa 89! Public Enemy as well (saw them twice in the 80’s).
Also like the deckreca and most stiuff that was on ronin records from 90’s, and the Egyptian Lover tracks from the 80’s…
I remember the old electro tapes. Some good choons on them. Also maybe not everyone taste but I thought the beastie boys 1st album (licence to ill) was a cracker.
Seriously you LOSE. Hip hop developed in the 80s and grew at an alarmimg rate. If you missed it, you don’t really understand it. maybe you should stick with eminem?
Loved 80’s Hip hop, but don’t really have much time for most new stuff. Don’t know if it’s just nostalgia or that I get sick of hearing about sipping cristal or however you spell it.
There are tracks from public enemy, grandmaster flash etc that will probably be played another twenty years from now, there are very few classics coming up from the Nu skool.
80`s were my era, Loved all the hip hop and electro , have all the electro albums still in the loft somewhere ?
As bjj.andy.w , loved the licensed to ill album from the beastie boys
Have loads of 80`s hip hop and electro on my mp3 player for when im out on the road bike …
80`s equal .. good times
just listened to “you’re gonna get yours’ on spotify-amazing reminder! Mantronix and Schoolly D too, Jurassic 5 are still regulars on my iPod, no-one can forget the electro albums either, often first exposure to Hip Hop from a wide variety of artists. are they on itunes? youtube has lots of music and videos-just found ‘johnny the fox’ not heard that for years! afrika bambaataa, damn i could go on…electro!
