You gotta be in it to win it. Wonder if Van Gaal’s ego will cope though.

Seriously can’t believe how average United are when you consider how much has been spent on transfers in the last couple of years. And them being only 3 points off the top doesn’t paint the premier league in a very good light.

I reckon we could well be hearing a lot about how undervalued the Europa league is by this time tomorrow evening.

That was not a relatively difficult group to get out of but avoiding a walloping from one of the big boys is perhaps a blessing in disguise.

LVG’s “philosophy” is BS. Okay, he’s patched up things at the back a little (although that’s mainly due to Smalling delivering on his potential) but elsewhere is a ****ing shambles.

The team has NO movement. Watch someone pick up the ball … only to find they have no-one to pass it to. Players are too ****ing lazy to make themselves available.

As much as it pains me to quote a Dipper: “Football is a simple game based on the giving and taking of passes, of controlling the ball and of making yourself available to receive a pass. It is terribly simple.”

He was right then and he’s right now.

To be even more simplistic, if you score more goals than your opponent, you win. Simples.

Except for away goals which count double.

But judging from the radio this morning, this fact should be hidden from kids under the age of 11. Thank goodness I was allowed to understand and play proper games even as an U8! 😯

    They dont though do they?

If they did Man Utd would have gone through, given that they lost 3-2 away from home. The simply count as being a tiny wee bit more than a home goal in some games.

Yep, they only apply in the knockout games. Head to head records are used in the group stages when teams are level on points.

No one wants to be in this from the CL i assume going our entirely is better- shame that it has come to this with a european trophy.

As for MAn u thought it was a good game as we actually attacked. That said the fact we lost 3 goals and lost means that LvG Will be emboldened in his feeling that his method is the way

Hard to tell if the star players are not that good or his proycshesh negates their creativity

Personally i want him out as it will just be more of this

It really isn’t, with a few exceptions they are very average. It is not only a ManU problem though, it seems that the ‘top 4’ have bought some horribly average and overpriced players. Look how crap City are; already lost 4 games in PL and in two of those they conceded 4 goals. If they get spanked by Spurs and Liverpool, what Barca or someone good will do to them is horrifying. And then the ‘mighty’ Arsenal have so far lost to the likes of Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiakos. Sheesh 😯

The big money swashing about in English football is coming back to bite hard. Pellegrini moaning about lack of depth, LvG will go and buy another 60 million ‘superstar’ because that’s what you do now, you don’t stick with a manager, you buy your way out of it.

English clubs found tactically wanting in Europe again.

But it’s alright, cos the Sky adverts make it look amazing.

The Premier League is entertaining and does remain good to watch, you can’t deny that. It’s falling behind the top clubs in Europe though and it doesn’t justify the self-proclaimed ‘best league in the world’ tag.

There are two or three clubs a season that are good to watch, the likes of Leicester this season, Southampton before them etc…

But then they all fall into the trap of relegation avoidance, as the EPL is the be all and end all…. After the big boys buy their best talent, like what the likes of Villa etc have done for years.

Germany- two teams in last 16
Spain- two teams in last 16
England- three teams in last 16….

It’s only manUre that are that bad!

Aye, cos Chelsea, Citeh and the Arse are awesome….

The group stages aren’t the real tester.
