Went to a house last wek to do an estimate to box some pipes and a box to cover the electric fuse box and meter.

Problem is the place theyre at is under the stairs, and in that space about 5 foot long and 3 foot wide theyve also installed a gas meter, fuse box, electric meter, lots of cables, all either on the floor or within 2 foot of the floor, also sharing the same sapce is a full sizes toilet bowl, cistern, and a wash hand basin, the wash basin is directly above the gas meter, and the electrics go alongside the wall at a 90 degree angle to the wash basin and about 2.5 foot from the toilet bowl.

Question is is this legal or safe, done by a reputable company for two old aged pensioners, who seem to be unaware of the electric shock or gas leak risk

Electric switchgear should be 150mm from gas pipes, and unprotected cables should not be on the floor, otherwise it sounds like many other houses I’ve been to.
Water over the gas meter – not really a problem.
Pics needed to say any more.
