The ultimate, in buses, anywhere:

I grew up in Old Ford.
Sniff.
No, no, just something in my eye...

BAD RB.. don't you know that Routemasters are dangerous and discriminate against people with mobility issues?!
I'd agree that they were just about the most perfect bus, particularly for London.

Yes, and I can understand the need for an updated bus that has easier access, and is fully enclosed, but it's still a shame to see them gone. They were an iconic part of London's image, as much as St. Paul's, Parliament and the Tower.
I grew up with buses like that. Me and me mum used to catch the number 8 every morning, to Bethnal Green, where she'd drop me off at nursery. So, part of my earliest memories.
I'm glad they kept a few on a couple of 'tourist' routes, though.
Strangely, no-ones ever come up with owt better, really. The RMs were a superb bit of engineering, and were very stylish, imo. BendyBus? Do me a favour. Send them back whence they came! Nasty 'orrible things. Slow, dangerous and always full up, 'cos so many people bunk them. Them things are for airports. Leave them there.
