   privatise the railways so why is the government helping Southern Trains buy new carriages.

   Never understood how the Government's have constantly bailed
   out the private sector on the railways.

   Its about time the Government should take back the railways.
   if not the water and gas just a total rip off.

   Yeah. She didn't foresee the Americans, then the French and Germans buying up all of the utilities. Now the Chinese have just bought in (Northumbria Water and Essex and Suffolk Water).
   The Russians are next ... Gazprom coming soon to your corner of "GB".

   The track is nationalised, as is East Coast Trains (after GNER messed up their franchise). You now get free food on East Coast in 1st class.

   You get that on the West from Virgin and free drink (as free as it is with those ticket prices - but still cheaper than the station cafe)
