I agree that Ardal looks like fun, but can I just say that – in real terms – living in the West Indies can be very difficult?
The ‘island paradise’ thing wears off pretty quickly when you realise that there really is pretty much nothing else to do but drink, look at the local beauty (n.b. I did not say ‘explore’!), and perform whatever your job is.
Same weather day in and day out. Same three over-priced shops. No cultural outlets. No real sports infrastructure. But LOTS and LOTS of politics.
I still love it, and am glad I lived there for a while, but I totally get Humphrey’s decision.
EDIT: Don’t let that put a damper either on this thread or on the fact that Death in Paradise is still enjoyable.
