Just seen it at the cinema- a bit late, mind (it came out in 1978).
Plot was like a violent Mills & Boon... but, my gawd, amazing to look at. Ditto, of course, Badlands and The Thin Red Line - although I have avoided The Tree of Life.

Tree of Life won't be for everyone, but I can attest to the fact that it is bold and beautiful. I agree with your feelings about the others, though. Malick has a sublime eye.
