Well as this thread is still running I feel i should post an update - I've felt really good all week, not felt hungry once and I've really enjoyed all the food I've had. Being forced to be a bit more creative with food is almost the best bit.
I went for a jog last night and found it much easier than usual, and with no additional effort I was 15sec/km faster, I finished stronger and didn't feel like I was held back by my bouncy belly.
Couldn't resist a go on the scales and I'm 1.9kg lighter than Sunday morning!! Now Im sure much of that is water through not being bloated, but who cares, it's water that's no longer padding out my shirts and slowing me down!Can't wait for a cookie or 9 on Saturday tho!

I plan to hit the plan proper next Monday, but have been 'warming up' this week. So far so good and 3lb lost since Sunday. Just been for a night ride, my first for well over five years and I was a little apprehensive as I thought I'd not have as much energy. How wrong.
. Our lead took us on a 25km+ loop and I have not felt as strong for years, I was able to keep the power down for much longer than usual. Even changing down on ascents to push harder...
Will be keeping this up for a while. Why oh why did I wait 20 years??? Thanks Dave.

Take the middle road probably. I've spent the best part of 20 years not really thinking about what I eat, all of a sudden I can see how food impacts my physioligy, my strength and how I feel. Once I hit target I'll start to balance my diet with a little more thought. Blimey but it feels good... Not going back to feeling flumpy after each meal.

Idave, I work in a supermarket and I see what people choose to eat. The more educated middle class types have a better idea how to feed themselves. But it's not a question of money it's a question of education I agree. More important to adjust your diet for the long term attainable thing rather than a short term weight goal I think though. For a lot of people your diet, although brilliant and realistic, is not a real-world life-time option. People are too ingrained in their eating habits. It's fine for a nice healthy bicycling forum.

I know - but this isn't a 'diet' it's a change in diet to bring about better body fat levels and more energy, and results seem to suggest, better health.
At the minute I'm at a training camp with one of the top cycling teams in the world and lots of the riders are avoiding grains. for health and performance reasons.

I work in a supermarket and I see what people choose to eat.
I've been to a supermarket and seen what they supply. How much aisle space for beans and pulses? How much aisle space for pre-prepared pizza?
I came back to the UK from an evronment where whole aisles were dedicated to beans and pulses, another for rice and a third for pasta. all a bit cheken and egg, but the supermarkets could make it easier.

Ive not been hungry once and I've enjoyed some delicious meals
I've found it pretty easy to turn down cakes and doughnuts at works because I know I can have them today
I've had plenty energy during the day
When I've exercised I've found it easier and I've performed betterLet the munch day commence!!

end of week 2 and 4kg down. Could definitely feel the difference on my run today, though, was lacking a bit of energy Thursday night for 5 Aside... maybe the carbs on my day off on sat loaded me for today's exercise?Is there something specific about no dairy? Im really missing my Yorkshire tea with just a dash o milk so thinking about reintroducing this unless there is a valid reason not to.

Do insulin spikes affect the way you lose weight though or just make you more prone to wanting a snack?

Quick update,
11.5lbs / 5.2kg down and my trousers are actually hanging off me for the first time in a while.... !!
Thats in 29 days
Sum total excercise in that time:
1hr Sufferfest Turbo session
2 hr "Play" ride at Thetford
about 4 or 5 10-15 minute kettlebell swing sessions with a light weightWhich is less excercise than I was doing before starting the diet, so the weight loss is all down to the diet.

Which is less excercise than I was doing before starting the diet, so the weight loss is all down to the diet.
Well, weight loss is 80%-ish diet, so that in itself is not surprising.

3 weeks of iDave plus heavy training schedule. My week currently looks like this:
Monday: Boxing - pad and bag work
Tuesday: MMA training
Wednesday: Boxing bodyweight session
Thursday: Rest
Friday: Strength and conditioning training
Saturday: Boxing - pad work and sparring
Sunday: Bike
Results so far:
8lbs lost
Body fat reduced by 4%
Muscle increased by 6.5%
Lost 1 inch off my chest
Lost 3 inches off my waist and hips
At the start of the fight camp I'm half way through, we did a fitness test: as many burpees, with a press up, in 5 minutes. I managed 22 on the first night and thought I was going to die.
Last night was the mid-point test and I managed 50 easily and didn't feel tired at all.

Last night, no. I did sets of 10 with maybe 10-15 seconds rest between sets so I could have pushed past 50 if I'd really upped the pace. Before the test last night I had a target of doubling my original score so I was pacing myself for that but in hindsight I could have hit 60 - 70.

So week 2 was less dramatic than the first. I put on 1.5kg last Saturday and felt rotten all day Sunday, I think it was the massive home made pizza that did it. It was mid week before I started to feel light again and in the end I'm down another 1.1kg to make 4.2kg overall. More importantly I'm 2 places down on my belt and I'll need to get the centre punch out if I drop any more. That's simply never happened EVER before.
The stuff I've seen and wanted this week that's made it onto my "having that on Saturday list" are Belgian choc chip shortbread and toast with butter. Had those already this morning and there's a creme egg in the fridge with my. And on itPosted 3 months ago # -
Momentous update! As of today, I'm no longer "overweight"
Considering I was borderline obese 6 weeks ago, I'm pretty happy with that.

dropped from 88.1kg to 80.4kg (I'm 5'11") - more importantly i feel like i could leap buildings in a single bound!!
Mrs Petrieboy had lost weight too (although she only had a bit of baby weight to shift) and everyone who's asked her what she's doing diet wise she's responded "iDave" - me thinks STW might get a few more Google hits......
