What size of potato do you normally roast?

6. Call it 7.5 just to make the maths easy.

I put the spuds in the pan... boil for 10 mins whilst doing press-ups = 1 spud

I shake them vigorously to fluff them up for 5 mins = 0.5 spud

Roast for 45 mins whilst skipping in front of the oven... you've got your 6 spuds right there.

my typical roast potato would be about the same size of a curled up gerbil.

I'm probably not typical, but I started the life-long eating plan in May, hoping to get down to 85kg (which is lighter than I'd been in over 20 years) from around 100kg and I achieved this in December.

While I don't follow it to the letter (I have a cheat weekend, not a cheat day, and I drink a lot of beer, to name but 2 transgressions) I have taken the trouble to work out why it works for me, and stick to that.

I have never been hungry since week 2 and I have never felt low on energy, since the first few weeks of acclimatisation.

The brilliant part (as I see it) is that it breaks the viscious circle of sugar rush, insulin spike, blood sugar crash, craving, binge.

Of course I'm eating less carbs. There's not a great deal of the stuff in all the veg that I'm replacing the bread, spuds and pasta with. Last night We had a little lamb chop each. I made a salsa: onions, peppers, mushrooms, courgette, tomatoes, olive oil and garlic. Mrs Bigjohn had it with pasta, I just had a double helping of the salsa.

There's not much carb in those veg, but it felt and tasted great.

And all the rest of the shouting, asterisks, etc.

LMFAO at iDave.
๐Ÿ˜†

FFS Dave, tell them it is a low GI thing, which it is suggested should prevent the cycle of larding-up.

I love these threads, the same Qs - Tomatoes ๐Ÿ˜†

The same names arrive.

The same puke is posted by Don and others, much to my amusement.

I haven't laughed so much since last night when I saw that child have to take a dip in the poo below the latrine in order to get his photograph autographed.

Im just starting week 4 now, I have been strict on it (Barring one cup of coffee made for me with milk) and have found its made a huge difference even with only a small amount of excercise.

As of this morning I am down to 11st12 from 12st6 3/4 starting weight, and the Belly and moobs are reducing significantly....

Its very odd seeing my body change shape so much, so soon and Like I say, I havent been training or excercising much at all ?

I`m aiming for 10.5st "Fighting weight" so a little way to go yet, but I am feeling so much better on it, I get to the end of the cheat day and look forward to going back on the Diet !!
Not because im pigging out, but because its not until you stay off all the starchy simple carbs, do you realise how bloated and weird they make you feel.
I like black coffee now, without sugar !! which is amazing for me, and i`ve really enjoyed getting back into cooking again, Celeriac Root Mash is just amazing !! I prefer it to Potato mash now, as does the other half !!
I have found it quite expensive, with the increase in (Decent)meat but I can work on that now I have some staple recipies.
All in all, I find it a much more sustainable way of eating for me and far better than the crazy yo-yo blood sugar/insulin trip I was on before

Don - google "rock climbing frenchies".

stevewhyte - try the tagliata recipe of Heston Bluementhingy on Waitrose's website.

Do a tray of roast veg

Squash, carrots, little onions or shallots, peppers, fennel, garlic, cherry tomatoes, a bit of olive oil & balsamic.

flippin yum.

I once got a recipe for gram flour chips off Saturday kitchen but I didn't like them.

Making your own pakora (make batter of chickpea flour and beer, dip veg in it and deep fry) they go well with steak.

I always remember stories of Joe Brown doing pull ups on his finger tips... That would have been AWESOME.

TSY, in a very unlike me way, I decided to start of slowly so i didn't hurt today (already had doms from sundays climbing sess) so I did 2 sets of 10, but only the first 5 were frenchies then I just did normal pull ups for the second 5. Also tried some side planks using just my hand for support, rather than elbow/forearm. The press ups/mountain climbers/side swing in trx is still killing me though!

Please say assisted or I shall have to chop my arms off.

I did a variation of the mountain climber thingys with my feet in the olympic rings and my hands on an upturned Bosu ball. ******* hard!

PMSL

Firstly, cr500dom. Good stuff, keep up the good work.
I did my first cauliflower rice on Sunday and it was ace.
Highly recommend.

I am your friend, but I may be confused for being a little abrasive.
I want people to lose their lard, and where once I might have been irritated by the idiots turning up, poo-pooing the iDave diet.
Now these idiots amuse me.
**Bonus**

You fixed up yet Solo?
That is sooooo a loaded question at the moment, but thanks for asking.
All I can say at the moment, is that with my new and improve iphysique, I'm having good times.
๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜†

before I get aroused for the wrong reason
Is that possible ?.....

Are there any nice tasting healthy alternatives?
Cauliflower rice ?, fried in organic, unsalted butter ?.
Mashed swede with butter and white pepper.
Mashed butter beans with garlic, olive oil, seasoning, maybe a dash of woostershire sauce.

Whats the deal with coffee? Does it have any purpose in iDiet or is just mentioned due to 'allowed' status?
Asking as I do not drink it at all.

Abrasive I can deal with, but...

I want people to lose their lard, and where once I might have been irritated by the idiots turning up, poo-pooing the iDave diet.

Show me where I have poo-pooed the [s]diet[/s] lifestyle? It takes quite a lot to offend me but when my hard earned reputation is being publically slandered, I do tend to weep on the inside. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

*lies and says unassisted so tsy chops his arms off* ๐Ÿ˜€

Sadly assisted but i'm working my down the assistance, at 25kgs atm and 20kgs is doable but i hurt more the next day. Given I now weigh 53kgs (woop, another 1kg lost), I'm getting there with the assistance! I have a target route for climbing to clean, its a very steep overhang with clips where my feet are effectively useless and its all about one arm at a time so I'm trying anything that will help! I'm loving ditching the free weights for body weight instead.

That does sound hard; might have to put my hands on a bosu ball when my feet are in the trx next time to keep up with you ๐Ÿ˜‰

Still really impressive, but I must say I'm rather relieved.

I do think you should try the frenchies using a step to get you to the top. Lower to whichever position, hold, lower to bottom and then use the step to get back to the top.... negative reps will get you strong as hell in no time.

OK, they're not 100% proof iDave, as they are tossed in a small amount of flour prior to frying, but they're a great way of replacing the frites in your steak-frites.

Them, steak, some home-made aioli and some watercress. Nom.

The energy used whisking the oil into the aioli should count as a 75 minute workout, negating the effects of the flour.

I've not read the link yet, but you go on about the flour.
Would gram flour be acceptable ?.
If so, then I'd imagine you're sorted.

I see the coffee thing as just an alternative to water or red wine.
I keep the water for the morning, coffee for the afternoon and red wine for the evening.

I thought that the caffeine in the coffee and more so the stuff in green tea has been shown to aid weight loss?

^ Solo, spose you could try gram flour, as the flour is having a batter-ish effect on the courgettes, and it works OK in a similar context with, say, bhajis. But you might get some of that bitter-ish chickpea taste - gram flour isn't as neutral in taste terms as plain flour.

Care to excalibrate that, please ๐Ÿ™‚

If true, I'd be interested to know how that happens.
(genuine request for enlightenment, esp as iDave never mails me anymore ๐Ÿ™ )
