Earlier today, the BBC Lancashire website had a link to a local newspaper article, saying the new dome for Darwen Tower would be bright red 😆 . The link didn’t work, and I assumed it was a spoof anyway. Anyone know the background to this wind-up?

And any dates for the re-opening of the tower?

The article was by a reporter named Catherine Pye (allegedly), and started off:
WORK on Darwen Tower’s new dome is almost complete – and it’s going to be a red beacon in the sky. Apprentices at WEC Ltd in Junction . . .

Cos, the old one wasn’t phallic enough…! Good job.
