    165mm, 170mm, 175mm, 180mm Will I be able to tell the difference? Clearance? Stroke power? Stance? Will I die?

    MTB = normal folk = 175, short folk = 170, lanky = 180.

    Track & hipster = 165.

    You won’t die through having the wrong crank length. But you might if you don’t learn how to use Search

    Will you die? Eventually

    Used to have 180mm on my SS, can’t say it ever made a massive difference

    Apparently, 100% of mountain bikers will die!

    I recently got some 170mms off Ebay for my singlespeed town bike (having been sold them as 175s). I couldn’t be bothered to raise it as they were still a bargain, but was surprised at how noticeable the difference is. Took a while to adjust to, don’t really notice now.

    180’s on the SS and 165 on the fixed…………..only difference is i don’t smack into quite so many things with the shorter ones.

    Any bike with a low BB will benefit from shorter cranks. I’ve 170mm jobs on my Wolf Ridge and 175mm jobs on my hardtail – I can’t tell the difference in use.

    Just replaced the cranks on my road bike. Was gonna get 170’s (same as the original) but they were out of stock so went for 175.
    Now have a teeny bit of toe overlap with the front wheel…

    180 cranks on a full sus might be rock prone. I’m lanky and run 175 on all my MTB’s. I still bash rocks a lot on my enduro, spesh have low BB’s though.

    Will I be able to tell the difference?

    – Some people can – I like 170mm’s, but I’m a shortarse.

    Clearance?

    – Never noticed.

    Stroke power?

    – Don’t be disgusting.

    Stance?
