I’m looking into converting my 2006 36 TALAS into Van’s.

As far as I can figure out it’s simply a case of pulling the TALAS damper thingy out and replacing it with the correct spring and damper rod/spacer assembly and a new top cap. Obviously new oil will be needed. I did fit some enduro seals recently so these should still be good for a wee while yet

Have I missed anything? Is it really as easy as it appears?

Looked into it a while ago, it’s possible but expensive.

Not exactly what your looking at, but Simon at Locotuning converted my 2010 36 float r to Vanillas the week before last. That came in at about £90 I think for parts, fitting.
And well worth it it was.

I looked into it for my 32’s it was as simple as you say and bits were around 80 quid. Only thing to be aware of is once you go with a spring you can’t go back to air. So converting to float may be a thought also

You’d need the cup that fits at the bottom of the upper legs that the spring assembly fits onto too, drop me a mail if you want further details. 🙂
