not long mate, had the same, turbo within a week ridin within three, no bother since at all go for it!!!!!!!!!

Can I ask what symptoms you've got, and what tests were done before they decided it was this?

Still have a another consultation and tests yet so its not confirmed but symptoms are fairly convincing. Pins and needles, loss of sensation, pains in the wrist and forearm and loss of grip.
It's unusual for it to happen at my age (30) and with both hands but it happens.
Still 3 weeks till back on the bike doesn't sound as bad as I had feared!!

I had the op on my right hand about 10 years ago. It was strapped up for about 10-14 days IIRC, then 3 days after the stitches came out I picked up a new motorbike. My hand was weak, but I could still use the trottle and brake OK. I wasn't MTBing at the time, but I reckon I'd have needed a couple more weeks to get enough strength back to hold on over anything rough.

My left hand was done about 4 years ago. I think I waited 4 weeks before riding off-road (3 weeks for road). I didn't suffer any discomfort afterwards, just kept the hand elevated for a few days. Doing certain things can be a little more awkward.

CTS is often mis-diagnosed by medi bods!
Brachial plexus nerve impingement can replicate CTS symptoms.
Might wanna have some remedial work [trigger point therapy and myofascial release] done on your Scalenes [neck muscles] and Pectoralis Minor before being cut open...Then you might want to ask yourself why these muscles are being overworked in the first place and look at a postural/kiinetic chain assessment.
Have had good results in just a few sessions of soft tissue work.
Good luck with the surgery if that is the route you end up taking,although I do know of examples where it hasn't sorted the problem [well,if you don't address the true causal factors then it won't,I guess]Posted 3 years ago # -
I'm with podium. CTS should only affect the thumb side of your hand. Make sure your forearm, chest & neck muscles aren't too tight & your wrist bones aren't jammed up. I'd do this first and then ask for nerve conduction tests as well before being sliced open.

Are there tests for CTS? Nerve conduction or anything like that, or is it really just based on patient's description of symptoms?
Is the numbness, tingling, loss of grip etc a permanent symptom of CTS?

I think most medical conditions only treat symptoms and not the cause.
Depends on how much money and time you have for an investiagtion and how much we know about the cause and it's mechanism.
Always geta 2nd opinion?
