Shall I book my car hire before I go or wait until I I am in Canada? I have three days in Montreal before I need a car and I think I am being ripped off with the prices quoted so far?

We booked before we went and it didn’t seem that bad. If you’ve got a quidco account you could get cashback via carhire3000.com, which we used in France last Mach with no issues. If you factor in the cashback against the quoted price it might make it more reasonable?

Don’t rent one from the airport, get a cab into town and use the same firm just different depot.
We saved nearly $200 on a weeks rental by doing it that way.

Flatfish +1 – Quite often if you try to rent at the airport you will be charged a “tourist tax” of some description. Look at the prices in town.
