Ok so now I’ve overcome the fear and dread of midges – (see this thread) I’m wondering where are good places to camp, wild or otherwise, in the Trossachs – in particular somewhere not too far from Drymen.

    Drymen Camping

Hi Stan, See link above for small campsite beside Drymen. Mainly used by West Highland Way walkers, stayed in it myself. Decent enough with showers and soemwhere to cook out of the rain, and within walking distance of Drymen. From there you have a choice of heading to Aberfoyle and Loch Ard/Katrine or following West Highland Way to Balmaha/Rowerdennan, or along the NCN7 to Balloch and back down to Glasgow.

If you prefer wild camping, stay on WHW till after Drymen and just pick somewhere in the trees.

In Drymen, best food at the Drymen Potteries, and pop into the Clachan for a pint.
