Report back in 3 or 4 years and let us know if you've managed to break it in

1000 miles they suggest, so thats more like 10 years I think
Actually I have a 100miler to do in 3 weeks so need to check if it'll be nice by then. Hope so

I desperately wanted to get along with one but gave up and sold it after 4 or 5 months
Not sure of mileages but at least 2000

luckily I have plenty of weight to attempt to force it to conform to my arris

Im my youth as a roadie i used to use stuff that you heated up and poured into the underside then it moulded to you quicker cant remember the product name?

They vary. Some break in very quickly, perfect in a couple of hundred miles and some actually mould your arse to the saddle instead
I've used them for years, but stopped for a while whilst living in Manchester as my bikes only lasted a year or so before getting stolen.
Bought my current one about 12 years ago, B17 Narrow, the price on the box says £21.99
This one was a tough one, took a couple of years to get really comfy but is now pretty much perfect. Can't believe how expensive they are now, but Spa cycles usually have them in for a reasonable price.

My B17 was comfy from day 1.

We used to slather them in 3-in-1 oil when new.
Also used it for maintaining the saddle.

Brown B17 was comfy from day 1, black one is still hard as nails after 3000miles.

I had mine on a communter and found the frequentshort journeys broke it in in a month or three.
I wouldn't like to do a 50+ mile ride on a new one.Posted 11 months ago # -
My B17 was fine straight away, sort of, I spent about a month proofiding every few days, dunno if that made any difference or not Can you not loosen it off a bit if it is too tough? I'd hapilly put them on all my bikes if i could afford it. The alternative is to break your arse in gently by using a San Marco Rolls

Brown B17 was comfy from day 1, black one is still hard as nails after 3000miles.Whereas my black ones were comfy straight away, the brown is still hard after a similar mileage.
The thing about Brooks is that they all seem to vary but I wouldnt be without one now.

My brown B17 standard was comfy from day one and just gets better.
I bought a black B17 Imperial Narrow for my road bike and that is very hard and doesn't seem to be breaking in quickly. I will persevere with for a few more months, if no better then I will go for a more modern saddle, the weight penalty was meant to be in exchange for comfort.

Bought a brown new B17 off STW member two years ago and it was comfortable from day one. In fact it is so comfortable I plan to change all my saddles to Brooks in the next 6 months.
