Or even better, all laid out in a picture!.

I've assembled what I think is the majority of a reasonable, lightish kit, I'd like to see what else everyone else takes?

I'll get a pic of mine up tomorrow, once I get back from work.

I use a 600g down bag, 500g 3/4 length mat, army surplus bivvy bag and a small tarp for when the summer let's me down. Food is dehydrated but the rum is plentiful. Although Ti mugs and gas stoves seem to be the norm I prefer a campfire for cooking. All my kit packs down to this:

All my kit packs down to this:

...etc,

Crikey! You travel light hoojum. I've also got one of those frame bags, I'll have to try and whittle my bivi kit down to your minimal amount 🙂

BTW, your photo reminds me of the escarpment of the glorious South Downs near Ditchling where I'll be christening my new SS MTB rebuild in a couple of weeks 🙂

You big freak - most people use a tent on a national trust site! Maybe you'll get a discount.

Adele says - You'll come crying in the middle of the night desperate to sleep in our porch.

Adele's wrong, I'll go crying to Des, he's cuddlier than you pair!.

I've just got my kit together, So it'll be the first time I can try it all out properly, which kills 2 birds with the one stone ;-

I'll know what works, what doesn't and what else I need to get.

And secondly, I won't get the Solo bivvying fears, like the fear you get on a solo nightride at Drumlanrig on a foggy december night!.

Typical (honorary) Yorkshireman, always thinking about a discount.

Mine's quite long, but I did need to deal with a variety of climates:

I've just got some 15mm webbing, and some of the wee clips that you get on your camelbak waist and chest band. My aim is to make a harness for the sleeping bag, below the bars, and one for a dry bag below the saddle.

Was just getting my stuff together as feel like going for a walk & bivvi this week. I fancy doing something very local - exploring stuff that's right on my doorstep but never on my way anywhere.

Anyway, got the kit laid out and thought Id put some pics and notes up:

Alpkit skyhigh 600 (bit overkill for summer, but I also have a skinny rubbish wynster 2 season that is half the size and weight) 1402g
Military bivvi bag. 958g
Highlander poncho/tarp. 334g
3/4 original thermarest 504g

MSR Pocket Rocket + 100g tin
Ti pan and lid
Origami mug.
Ti spork
Penknife
Compass
Whistle
Lighter & Matches
Alpkit Gamma & Petzl e-lite spare
929g

About 4Kg all in. Not superlight, but nothing too expensive either. And everything I need for a night or two outside.

I like the tarp. Only cost about £15 but doubles as a body/rucksack poncho in downpours.
