Does anyone know of any big , cheapish houses, for 15 people to rent over new year. 2 nights, in north England (Northumberland, cumbria, Yorkshire)

all the places I can find are 5 nights or there abouts and £££

We loved this place, just north of Malham.
No idea about current prices, and I reckon that asking for just 2 nights over New Year is a bit cheeky. You’re guaranteeing them no business just before or afterwards.

Like Moses says, anywhere that can sleep that number will want to make their money over Christmas and New Year, so you will struggle to find somewhere for 2 nights.

Owners Direct have a few houses with 3-4 nights advertised, but not cheap, e.g.: http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/englandb/E8328.htm

What about hiring out a youth hostel?

    Mountaineering club huts?

Although for New Year it’s a bit of an ask

That time of year most will request a week and many will be booked up already. None will be very cheap as it’s very popular for obvious reasons.

Haven’t even thought about summer hols yet, never mind new years. Maybe I should hire out midlifetowers and make some brass.

Have you looked at getting a couple of cottages together at a complex. We’ve done this at Beacon Hill on Northumberland and Sherrill Farm in Devon, you do end up having to improvise to get everyone round a dinner table at once.

    cheers all,

I have suggested a bunkhouse, and have got a fairly good price on one close to Kielder, but my mum doesn’t want it to be to out the way incase the weather is bad and we can’t get there….

I’ll check out the suggestions, thanks

We stayed in Thornton Lodge a few years ago which was good value – link here: http://www.landedhouses.co.uk/holidays-parties-north-england/

    Good luck!

We’ve stopped in this one,it is really nice, but you’re asking a lot for 2 days over Christmas/New Year,it’s very close to Hamsterley too,and Witton is a nice little village.

Try Scout huts / camping barns etc. Some are pretty decent. They aren’t normally let out so might be free over NY.
