    Prompted by another thread…

I have Virgin media cable TV and the red button and through that BBC iplayer is a real bonus, I can pick a programme and watch it, TV on demand basically (except that not all programs make it onto iplayer). As a result I now only watch what I want to.

My girlfriend has a freeview box, but her red button/iplayer is rubbish, about the only thing you can watch on demand is the weather!

Is this a function of the box or the fact I have virgin Media? Do some boxes have better functionality.

    Any advice would be great.

It’s a Virgin Media thing – as it is streaming the content from the web, which a normal freeview box can’t do.

If you are desperate for brown-eye brownie points then you can always hook up a laptop to the TV and stream from that.

Or setup a “Media PC” connected to the telly for a more permanent solution.
