Hi guys

Looking at a lurcher and its got the bb92, ideally I would like to use my slx 10sp double, is there an adaptor to make them fit or even better something to let me run a standard h/tec bb?

I have a bb71 (xt) 92mm in my pivot. They are set up to run standard shimano ht2 cranks. Unfortunately it isn’t possible for an adapter to be used to ft a normal screw in bb.

Bb71 fit the 92? Sorry new to the whole press fit thing

I bought this and replace the bearings when needed!

I believe they’re the same as Superstar’s which is cheaper but I could be wrong!

I thought the numbers on Shimano’s just represent the level of quality so bb71=Deore/SLX and bb91=XT/R. Could be wrong on this but as long as you have 89.5 or 92mm bb then either should fit and you could run the SLX crank.

As for reliability – I think they’re all c**p.

Hope do a £90 one and CK reportedly have one coming out.

I think the number represents the shell width of the frame…

My Stumpjumper FSR is BB91-42a and (I think) has a 90.5mm shell width.

For me – I was able to run my XT HTII crank with the press-fit BB on the Stumpjumper frame no bother.

My layman’s experience. Bought a meta AM, with the normal press fit bb, it takes the normal shimano cranks I have many of.

So, yes. Your 90.5 will likely be 92 once the BB is in, they don’t go quite entirely flush.

The bearings are the correct inside diameter for Shimano HTII crank axles so there are no nasty plastic top hat reducers required unlike all the others (the Hope is the other exception I believe).

If anyone tries to tell you there are adaptors to use normal BB’s then they are wrong (they are thinking of BB30).

I bought one of these for my Lurcher frame that I will be using with an XT crank. Not built it yet but it fits.
