Can’t believe there is support for Blandford Fly, first bottled beer I’ve ever tipped down the sink…

Just all wrong, I’ve another bottle of it that I can’t give away as my mates won’t touch it either…

+1 for all Badger beers that I’ve tried.

Fursty Ferret is also worth a swig in a sunny day.

Feel the same as ^^^ about Blandford Fly. Tried it once, not bought it since.

Dare I suggest Charles Wells Banana Bread Beer with a nice slab of tea cake?! MMmmmm.

They also do seasonal ales. Hopping Hare which is around now has a similar crisp / refreshing kick to the Golden Glory. Quite like the seasonality idea.

all the badger stuff is good, even the nettle stuff, lemony snicket is my least fave, but they all taste better on tap from a pub in dorset rather than from a bottle

Badger Long Days is great too as is their cider. Not too keen on the Blandford Fly though.

Pickled Partridge is another good Badger beer, Stinger nettle beer from River Cottage is also done through them and is rather nice!

I like a nice Harvey’s Sussex Best myself, but for Summer beer garden it’s gotta be Waggledance.

I do miss Badger – the Canucks haven’t heard the word of the Badger Ale. Golden Glory is excellent, Blandford Fly is great fun too. 🙁

nicko74 – Canadian beer aint so bad.

What about Alexander Keiths? It was ok when I was over there. I also remember one of the LCBO’s selling Samuel Smith’s Taddy Porter.

You can’t even get that in off licences in England.

I do like some of yer golden ales, I must say. If you haven’t already, you must try Pure Gold from Itchen Valley. Brewed by an STWer, no less, Singletrackmind off here, and winner of ‘Best Beer’ at the Big Bike Bash two years running. Ask WCA, he will tell you.

No seriously, if you like yer golden ales, then it’s a winner.

I want a bottle of Golden Glory right now as a result of this thread, and the shops are closed. Rather like Lemony Cricket too in the warmer months.

Ah, Waggledance was once a Sunderland brew, made by Vaux.

It’s still a decent ale, despite being brewed down south.

Get bent….far too much nonsence above 😆

Timi Taylors Landlord, unchanged and still the best for over 100 years, bottled or hand pulled (using a sparkle!!!) it is fabulous.

(although that Golden Glory is bloody good gear…!)

Spent a lot of my youth trying to avoid Badger Beer pubs in Salisbury but they’ve definitely turned things around over the last few years.

Got back from a glorious day at Cannock Chase last Thursday and had my first taste of Golden Glory – a perfect Summer evening beer but I’m not sure I’d want to have more than 1 or 2. My wife spoiled things a bit when she said it smelled like Archers though!

On the topic of good ale I still can’t recommend these beers from the Thornbridge Brewery highly enough:

Both a bit strong for sessioning…possibly!

They’ve also started a Pilsner, (which I know is taboo in most Real Ale threads) but this is far tastier than the usual fizzy fare…

    BTW – I don’t work for them!
