looking at the fuse box to familiarise my self with my new (to me) van

black box in my hand - one side has a block connector with about 8 or 10 wires comng out , i cant see where these go without ripping dash off , the other side seems to have a twin core aerial cable which is connected to a 20mm by 20mm by 10mm box in the side of the windscreen.

There is a flashing light on one end and its very very easily accessable - dont think its security related as its behind a pull off by hand panel by the key - ie first thing a thief will pull off.

has a phone number in one corner with a unit number under it but no other identification at all - my first thoughts are tracker - anyone seen anything like this before ? certainly isnt stock !

Looks similar to car phone kits but you can normally see the cradle for it and the control.

Looks like part of a old Hands free kit to me. A Tracker would have a sim card slot in it some where. At least the ones we use has.

Could well be an alarm, but they usually have maker's names on them. I've seen plenty "hidden" in stupid places.

that sounds good to me - il get it horsed out.

looks pretty profesionally fitted for a hands freekit but the previous owner was an aerial fitter

Didnt like the idea of someone knowing where i was - the red light on it threw me a bit !

after further investigation its a tracker

more for fleet vehicle tracing than for security/theft

Its still flashing so theoretically someone could be watching me so i think ill pull its plug tonight and take it from there

Pull it out gently - the company might give you a small cash reward for returning it. These things are not cheap!

well all im going to do is pull out the plug supplying power- that should kill the box.

i have no idea where the box is tied too tbh. Called the number on the box and no answer - no markings or brandin on the box !
