I’ve just bought a lovely CK inset mixer headset to replace the FRM one on my Lurcher but you can’t get the 1.5 cup remover to get a purchase on the old cups due a shamfer making it impossible for the flanges on the tool to open up, there’s just enough room to get a thin screwdriver on to the lip of the cup but i’m sure i’m asking for trouble in trying this bodge it method with a carbon frame ? Any helpful responses would be greatly appreciated thanks..

Screwdriver and mallet is ok if you just work round the cup and take your time. It’s the same on the carbon 456.

Thanks Andy, I did start trying it with a screwdriver but I bottled it but I’ll give it another go ?

Old seatposts come in handy for this (more contact area), as soon as you can get onto the outside of the cup switch to knocking it from the outside.
