Any idea what this is? It was found underneath my car (a 2005 Megane) today. It is pretty heavy for it's size and is made from a hard ish rubber. I have driven to car since finding it and all seems fine. Any ideas? Should I be worried? Sorry for the bad pics, taken on a phone. The pics are next to a AAA battery for scale:

Exhaust mounting rubber I guess. Best check yours is attached in all the right places.

Mass damper? Probably bolted to the gearbox or engine mounting somewhere.

Where under the car?
It doesn't look like any engine part I'm aware of...although I haven't properly fiddled around under the bonnet of a car since my first few cars in the early 90's, and they were all built in the early 80's when engines were a lot simpler.

It was found just in front of the back driver side wheels. I'll have a chat with my tame garage tomorrow and see what they say

has it got a part no on? renault parts desk should be able to tell you what it is. then wander off to a private garage and get yours refitted

Um...don't know what it is.
It's probably not from your car. If something was going to fall off, then it would probably fall off while you're driving not drop off on it's own while it's parked.

Apart from exhaust parts which tend to shift as the exhaust cools.
From that image I can't figure it out though, it's nothing I've ever seen.

Could even be from a door shut or the boot to ensure it locates properly when slammed. A better photo would help no end
(with some smart phones you can touch the screen to focus the camera on the object before taking the snap)

I'm with dave_aber, it a mass damper to counteract vibrations from the engine. Not critical but would be best being re-attached when the weather's better.

looks like a rubber body work protector for where it gets jacked up from to me.

Its part of the jiggle valve make sure the brifferlator rods are still there they may be next to fall off

Jiggle valve ?? oh come on ! someone is taking the mick.
Anyway, everyone knows its a McGeechie valve that causes that sort of problem !
Nothing to worry about anyway, all french cars shed parts as part of their normal operating mode.
Or in the case of my Pug, using the rear wash wipe changes the dashboard LED display settings. Weird, non ?
