Need to save half an inch on saddle height. Wondering if it's possible to limit the travel inside the post. Does anyone have a schematic?

Sram have an exploded diagram on the Service section of their site, comes under the spare parts catalogue(think it was page 7 or 8), failing that, speak to the tech guys at Fishers, they'll have had quite a few of them apart by now.

2012 models comes with an external collar that limits travel. Should be possible to fit to a older model.

I've enquired about this and the answer I got was there wil be a new model out with only 4" travel....
They've had mine apart 4 times now

I just got one, and I'm lucky that with it all the way into the frame it's just about perfect for road climbs. I want to drop it about 5 mm or so for offroad riding, but that's fairly easily done.
If you want to limit the height, surely the easiest thing to do would be use some paracord and a couple of zip ties to run from the top tube to the saddle? Very easy to set it to catch the post and stop any further upward movement.

Not sure i'd bother with a dropper post for 5mm

Ah damnit! That's £230 wasted then.

??? I dont understand your comment.
Do you mean you want it to come up half an inch less but still drop - so does that mean the full height range is too much for you ?
Can you not put it in the frame lower then.

It's as low in the frame as it will go but puts the saddle height about half an inch too high. I'm thinking that something like a fork travel reduction spacer might work depending on what the internals are like. So yes, still want it to function as a dropper post but overall length to be half an inch shorter.
It's not for me, it's for a friend otherwise I'd have pulled it apart and had a look myself. I would imagine a spacer at the right point would stop it fully extending. It would be really lucky if the shaft was the same size as the fox one as I have some 10 and 20mm spacers spare.
