    Cheep ones?

On the basis that lightweight XC tubes are expensive, heavyweight DH tubes are expensive, AM is somewhere inbetween, so middleweight tubes, which are cheep.

Or tubeless which is a win on every front.

personally I use tesco tube have done on the xc/am bike and the dh bike. the dh bike has been to the alps for years, and raced countless races in the uk. never had a problem. granted had a few punctures but they’re from unavoidable situations. I make sure I always dust the inside of the tyre with talc.

    “freeride tubes”

    Yeah they do.

I’d agree with thinking about going tubeless though, it’s brilliant for rocky riding.

normal ones in AM tyres should be fine.

Hutchison do an ‘Enduro’ specific tube, great for new Enduro style rigs. I’m guessing they are not far off what is required for AM steed duties. Lay of the UST tyres for AM, its just not suitable, TLR with Stans is better for AM hoops.

Thickish medium weight tubes at all times? Why not? For a weight difference the same as a chocolate bar it’s far less hassle than a puncture. I can’t remember the last time I had a puncture here in rocky ol’ North Wales.

I would suggest normal tubes that arent too small for your tyres. i.e. if running 2.3″ tyres, a 2.1″ max tube will work, but it will end up stretching too thin and be prone to thorns and easy snakebite.
Dont have your tyre too soft either.

I’m running harder tyres now, the supertacky’s were wearing way too quick! like dropping pound coins.

Specialized 2.3s seem pretty tough without being stupidly heavy… I’m light on my wheels so I use them for dh, work very well while being miles lighter than a full-on DH tube. Not expensive either.

    They certainly do freeride tubes.

Panaracer supertubes from CRC are cheap and sturdy.
