If you want to see some sights in Dumfries I can wholeheartedly recommend Chancers Night Club.

Some walks from Dalbeattie including the coastal path which is a good ride from Kipford to Sandyhills.
Easy to bike into the forest from a few different access points. Go and see Mitch @ MPG cycles if you need bike stuff or there are 2 shops in Castle Douglas(the Food Town)
Nice spots to visit/walk are Kipford, Rockcliffe and Sandyhills for a bit beach combing.

Will be with the mrs so will prob give the nightlife a miss. Lol
Think we are in Dalbeattie in August.

Drumlanrig is worth a jaunt. Trails, castle, walks, nice tea rooms, bike museum.

Wigtown is worth a visit if you’re bookish.

OS78 is a good map to get some hill rides from.

Threave Castle is a worth a visit. Riding? Kirry, Dalbeattie, Mabie, in that order IMO.

Most of Drumlanrig is rideable, just the last bit of black.

There is a Tuesday night ride @ Ae. 3 groups, slow, fast and faster! Cafe is open.
Ladies night ride on a Thursday, see 7Stanes FB page for details.
There is also a CD/Dalbeattie Wed night group and random groups meet at Mabie on a Thurs night taking in some off-piste riding(what’s left after harvesting!)

Would be nice to do at least one natural ride if it’s been dry and on a sunny day,but it would need to be fool proof also a tried and tested route. 15-20mile 1000-1500m climbing

Adding the coastal path onto Dalbeattie makes for a good day out. Exit the forest at Barnbarroch, down to Kipford and pick up the Jubilee path to Rockcliffe. Then up to Castle Point trigg point and along the coast to Sandyhills. Turn left out of Sandyhills, ride along to Colvend and take the walkers trail up past the village hall and into the forest again to pick up the trail to Terrible Twins.

We sorted out a free boat trip round Loch Ken with the ranger through that site. Brilliant time, supposed to be out for two hours but it was about three and a bit in the end. Saw all sorts of things including a leucistic buzzard, fabulous. There a red kite feeding centre near the loch too, that was an awesome sight

No, but I could do one and post on Strava or Endomondo. Not very good with technology!!
You can probably find the track on any of the mapping sites or Google Earth. It’s a well established track and there is only one main road which you ride parallel to.

and the nearby Peter Scott Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust centre are worth a visit, if you are near Dumfries and like history and birds.

The brewery in Castle Douglas is like something out of the League of Gentlemen! Step off the High Street and through a court yard and in then a wee door into a wall of drunken laughter and beer at about 12.26pm on a Tuesday.
Kirkcudbright is a nice town and there are so.e great beaches

Yeah, trail centre and road rides. Just follow the big blue posts with the arrows on them when out on a trail 😆

If you were heading up the valley to Drumlanrig then there are some decent natural options in them there Lowther Hills… Durisdeer Loop has a bit of climbing as does the Wanlockhead Loop (Death in the hills?)… stunning views on a sunny day.
