Six loads of fegging washing/drying, feeding the kids, taken one to a party/sleepover, done the shopping, made breakfast/dinner, kept the house (reasonably) tidy, on school duty tomorrow, pack lunches etc. It really is a full time job.

Yeah but you did all than in two days. Imagine the easy time you’d have if you spent 5 more stretching it out between episodes of Loose Women…

Have been doing this every day for the last 6 years + working full time.

Exhaustion is my Bessy mate

She also works 3 days 9-3 then on relief Monday and Friday. Credit where credits due I reckon. See if the kids have still got clean pants come Friday…

My mate swears blind his misses lays on the sofa with the Hoover next to her and the moment she hears his van pull up on the drive she jumps up and switches it on and starts pushing it around for 30 seconds before turning it off and telling him what a hard day she has had.

Do you know what, when you have kids, jobs and all the arranging and paraphernalia that goes with it, it’s a tough yet rewarding life for both parent unless you’re a lazy sod. Just get on with it, no bleating required.

I suggest never ever try to understand a woman. Woman things and the likes involved with such tasks, real man shouldn’t really try doing. You disown yourself by even trying.

MrsMC has upped her (paid) work hours and in the absence of a response from my benevolent employer for a corresponding reduction in mine, I’m fitting work in around the kids. Up at 6, washing on, packed lunches made, at my desk at 7.25, leave at 2, pick up youngest at 3.20, go home, put tea on, back to school for parents evening, back home, feed them, swimming club with youngest, then MrsMC will drop eldest at the pool for me to bring them both home while she is at a Guiding meeting till 10 pm.

If we hadn’t both been awake at 4am this morning moaning about the unseasonable temperature I doubt we would have spoken to each other today!

Six loads of washing! Do you have six kids?

My wife isn’t as well suited to managing the household as many it seems. 🙁

My day for today…

Get up.

Put a load of washing in

Get kids up

Breakfast

Dressed brush teeth and hair

Take girls to school

Go to shops and post office

Change washing over

Put away weekends washing (About 4 loads)

Just about to go back to bed for a bit as was working nights over weekend so still knackered.

When I get up I’ll Hoover downstairs and change bedding on all beds

Go out on bike for a couple of hours

Pick girls up

Take swimming

Make dinner and do dishes

Homework for both girls and keyboard practice for older one

Bath time

Stories for both

Bedtime for kids

Some tv time for me

It’s not difficult. And women who say looking after kids (of school age) is a full time job are talking out of their arse. It beats working any day.

Son started school this term, wife now looking for a job – a good thing but apparently leaves no time for chores.

Awe… I was busy yesterday… what with riding in the wind and rain of North Yorkshire on the CX’er.. playing cricket with Nephews.. washing dirty bike gear… plumbing in a new Aga…

Anyway – I do all the kiddie and house stuff, then work school hours and anything I can’t fit into then gets done in the evs. Best get on then….

I had a month of doing all that a while back when I was on gardening leave, it was dead easy. I ended up with hours of spare time every day. Was out at the gym, riding, cooking proper recipes for the family every day etc etc. I got a bit bored as there was so much free time after everything was done, I even ended up doing DIY which I hate just to fill my time.

Find it hard to understand why my wife complains of a lack of time TBH.

I went away for the weekend. Que lots of bitchy snide comments on facebook about how she was spring cleaning, tidying the house while i wasnt there to mess it up, having a clearout, etc, etc whilst I was out having fun* on my boat.

Came home last night, she’s on the sofa watching X-factor, the house was exaclty how I left it (i.e. in it’s usual ‘tidy, but could do with a hoover and the washing up needs doing’ state.

* fun being relative, it was dinghy racing with an F4 gusting F7, definately type 2 fun, interspead with moments of absolute terror, and occasional blood and pain. My score sheet read DFL, DNS, DNF, 10th, DNF, DNS.
