We had 4 days off uni and work this week to go and play, so we rolled out from Fife to head to Whinlatter (OK, but not long).
Friday we headed up Snowdon and miraculously got dry weather until we got 1/4 of the way down rangers when it started to pick up. I've done it before but Rangers is an incredible trail- fast, long, technical, steep- everyhting you could ever want. Oh, and lots of rocks. Up was around 2.5 hours, down about an hour and a half due to punctures.
Friday night was spent in a bunkhouse (thanks to the excellent Bach Adventures for that). Of course, the rain on Friday in Wales was biblical and it got to the point where we were flooded into the bunkhouse with no real option of getting out. A bit of an adventure!
Fortunatley by morning it was dry enought o get out, and we headed in the pouring rain to Coed Y Brenin. I'll be honest, it was OK- we did the MBR, which is in no way a black trail and not massively interesting but it had some nice bits and the visitor centre is good. Excellent company more than made up for it though.
After a brief diversion to visit home in yorkshire, on Sunday we rode Dalbeattie, which was, as ever, excellent, despite some sections being closed by forestry operations. The descents are fast, fun and the technical sections a real laugh.
