I bought the frame below with a view to building a fixie with it. It didnt come with forks or a headset. It is a 653 frame with a headtube inside diameter of 30mm. So Im assuming I need to fit a 1 inch headset.
I had a brief look for some forks and it seems you can get a threadless steerer fork with an inch diameter and I've also seen threadless 1 inch headset. Do these work in the same way an inch and an eighth aheadset works? Is there a shim to fit a modern stem to the steerer?
I think that the 1" threadless sets are the same as 1 1/8" to fit/setup.
Look at on-one 3ttt make some 1" ahead stems.

Simply because I havent seen many threaded forks for sale.

1" aheadsets work just the same as 1 1/8" Cane creek S2 is a good example. CRC stock them.
Older 1" ahead stems come with a reducer shim to fit a 1" ahead steerer. Ebay is a god place to look for those.
If I was building a bike with a 1" steerer, I'd start with the forks and then choose quill or ahead fittings to suit.
