Kinesis has just dropped all of the juicy details on its brand new Tripster ATR V2.0, which features a new titanium frame and modular thru-axle compatible dropouts. Originally launched back in 2012, the Tripster quickly rose to become one of Kinesis’ best-setlling models. The latest version aims to build on the original’s strengths, while updating the tubing and frame geometry, and incorporating modern features.
Standing for ‘Adventure / Tour / Race’, the Tripster ATR is a drop bar bike built with wide tyre compatibility and a lovely titanium frameset. The new frame features an increased gauge on the down tube for strength, and a flattened top tube that allows for a better fit with frame bags. Out back, there’s new flat-mount rear disc brake tabs, and a switchable rear dropout system that gives owners the choice of running 12 x 142mm through axle that come as standard, or a more traditional 9x135mm for QR.

Up front on the Tripster ATR is a stunning integrated tapered head tube. Machined from a single billet of Titanium, the curves on this are something else. Complete with Kinesis etchings that, unlike stickers, will last the life of the frame. Class.
Along with the new Tripster ATR frame, Kinesis has also introduced a brand new straight blade, full carbon, tapered 12mm through axle fork. Also called the ATR, this lovely looking carbon fork will be available separately for £279.99.
The Kinesis ATR fork features a 12mm thru-axle and flat mount disc brake tabs. There’s heaps of mud clearance built in, and you can fit up to a 700x45c tyre, or if you’re running 650b hoops, you’ll be able to squeeze in a 47c wide tyre. Rake is 45mmm, and Kinesis claims the full carbon fork weighs 550 grams including the supplied 12mm thru-axle.
Speaking of tyre clearance, the Tripster ATR V2 frame gets a little more flexibility out back too. Like the fork, there’s room for up to a 700x45c tyre, and a 650b wheel will yield you enough clearance to get a 2.0in wide mountain bike tyre in. So that gives you a whole load of options for wheel and tyre setup.
Other changes over the previous Tripster ATR frame includes a provision for internal cable routing, including Di2 compatibility. To improve the Tripster ATR’s long distance capabilities, Kinesis has also added a 3rd bottle cage under the downtube. Along with the added tyre clearance and the revised downtube that will stow a frame bag more comfortably, this looks to be a speedy bike for bikepacking-lite adventures.
