While we may all dream of a bike storage space with the space, attention to detail and cool points of the Bat Cave (not to mention having Albert the Butler to wash and shine the bike fleet), reality is all too often bikes leant up in hallways, hidden behind sofas or fighting for space with the washing machine in the garage.
While posh bike hangers rarely free up space, they do make for a slightly more attractive proposition than an off-cut of old carpet.
HIPLOK have thus far made bike locks with extra cool points. Not being ones for resting on their laurels, they’ve launched a new product, combining a stylish looking bike hanger for the home with a bit of added security. The hanger holds the bike in the air; it has a lock. No prizes for guessing that they called it the AIRLOK.
As is the way nowadays, they are funding the first batch via Kickstarter.

Anything that acts as a deterrent to would-be bike thieves has to be a good thing. While we are sure anyone with enough time and big enough tools will still have away with your bike, it may be enough to put an opportunist off. And, lets face it, the AIRLOK is far nicer than having a ground anchor and huge chain in your living room. Also – added bonus – there’s no chance of your housemate/partner/children ‘borrowing’ your pride and joy for a spin.
