Here, ladeeeez and gennlemen, is the Private Jake, fresh into the office from the Wonderful World of Kona. We have here a slack head angled beastie, with short chainstays, a low BB and through-axles front and rear. It also has (dare we say it) panache. Oh. My. Word.
Nice friendly cockpit – Kona branded bars and stem, and a tapered headtube for maximum modern-ness.
We’ve got internal routing for rear brake and rear derailleur – there’s no front one here – the Private is strictly One By. It’s a Rival groupset.
You can run it as a singlespeed, though. These dropouts are pleasing. There’s loads of shaping going on here, too.
And there’s a 15mm through axle up front, next to the TRP cable discs. Tidy.

I’m really interested in this bike as I lusted after a Major One all those years ago, and may finally be able to build a CX singlespeed Kona! If you have a minute could you see whether it would be possible to fit some 650B x 2″ tyres in there (a la Open Up I’ve just been reading about – but the price!)? Then it would be my ideal ride!
