Nice to see Cowboy Junkies up there…they wrote a song about this guy!

Mason Jennings – Use Your Voice, the whole album. Ray LaMontagne – Can I Stay

Van Morrison – Astral Weeks and Moondance albums.

Bon Iver – For Emma, forever ago, whole album again.

I fell asleep last night listening to Tom Morello’s album. Not chilled as such, but not what you’d expect from him in a good way.

edit – sorry thought thread was stuff to fall asleep to for some reason.

Not generally a McCartney fan, but the Beatles: Blackbird.

Peter Green/Fleetwood Mac: Man of the World.

    John Martin: Solid Air

I usually listen to rock/metal music but it’s nice to listen to something totally different and a bit more chilled out now and again, I couldn’t chose just one though!

Cocteau Twins are fantastic for late night ambience, won’t post links but Lorelei and Pearly Dewdrops Drops are favourites as well. But in the spirit of bands that you wouldn’t really associate with this genre

(and I’m seeing them in 2 weeks time)

Hoppipola (sp?) has a great video and a wonderful track

    Yes , a fabulous film.

I would enter a lot of Sigur Ros’ stuff here.

Some absolute belters on here folks. Good work!

i love a bit of Thea Gilmore. Off to see her again next month. Her voice is amazing. This is about as good as cover versions get. Just beautiful…

this takes something horrific – the holicaust – and creates one of the most achingly beautiful things I have ever heard

Nice to see the Cowboy Junkies mentioned up there – Margo has a great voice.

For me though, I have to go classical – Anne Truelove’s Aria (No Word from Tom) from Stravinsky’s “Rake’s Progress”. Ideally the recording by Dawn Upshaw (who incidentally rose to fame through the Gorecki piece above).

A quick Google and here it is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XG9aKyozcjk

Ah, yes, Thea Gilmore! A lovely person and a superb singer and songwriter. Also a superb interpreter of other writers works, like those of Sandy Denny. Thea’s cover of Sandy’s ‘Glistening Bay’ is just breathtaking.

You all have quite good taste in music really. Some great selections.

This one always gives me goosebumps…

And have we not had any Aphex?

Couldn’t agree more Countzero. Here’s the cover of Sandy Denny’s ‘Georgia’. She wrote it about her daughter but died before she recorded it. Beautiful…

I am loving this, so thanks all for contributing.

This lot is going to make the most chilled out perfect playlist ever.

Being the OP can I add another to the list?

    An unforgivable oversight if so…

And seeing as this is a mountain biking forum, apparently, something appropriate. A fantastic tune to soundtrack a fabulous film sequence that sums up riding bikes, dossing around with your mates on a sunny afternoon 😀

Binners, Congratulations! You’ve got an amazing musical ear (I obviously haven’t met the wife!). 😂
