Anyone tried, or do i need to go all 10 speed?

Needs to be 10, the cable ratios are different 🙁

Doesn’t the shifter decide how much cable to pull?
I would have thought it would work.

Yes, but the amount of cable has to be suitable for the mech too. They changed the ratios with 10-speed.

(with shimano, a 9 speed mtb mech works on a 10-speed road shifter, frinstance, but 10-speed doesn’t)

No it won’t work. The path a 10 speed moves through is different

Im wondering if its worth upgrading to 10 speed, i like the sound of the clutch mechs but its altogether quite expensive and id be worried that 11 speed will be out by the time i get it set up!

I only changed because half my drivetrain was shagged. The clutch is a nice thing if you’re running 1 ring as is the wider ratios, not so convinced by either of those on a dual though.

Only cost me £130 for the XT Shadow + mech, SLX chain, casette and sifter from bikediscount.de
