People say I’m weird for eating toast this well done*

I quite like it, with Marmite or Marmalade. There’s only butter on these bits 🙂

Am I odd or is this normal?

*I don’t really want it to be like this, but the toaster is surprisingly unpredictable.

You are odd. I would not eat that on account of it being disgusting. My mum probably would though.

I’d eat it but I’d scrape all the burnt bits off first.

I like my toast on the edge of burnt. Last time my toaster overdid it and died for it’s troubles.

Yep no problem 😆 with just butter and the toast would have to be cold before the butter went on.

A bit overdone, but not too far. I’d eat it unless I was feeling very picky; probably fine with Jam, but might do a new batch if putting honey on it….

Yes -just a bit more butter to compensate and it’ll be right.

That’s not actually black just brown so its a go for me.

Bit of a scraping perhaps, would be fine with marmalade.

depends how quickly it was done. if it’s taken a while and dried out the toast then no, if it was done quickly and the inside the toast is chewy then maybe, but it’s not ideal.

What’s all the crap round the outside? Is it a mix of butter/burnt toast scrapings?

I like my toast the barest hint of browning, it’s a texture thing more that taste

Marmite scraped off the knife to prevent contamination of the butter and Marmalade. Karin would kill me.

Looks fine to me. Well done toast goes much nicer with marmalade.

our current toaster would take about 8 hours to create toast that burnt 🙁

The one on the right, yes, all day.

The one on the right is not fit for my dog.

Aah, furry muff. I’d prefer the marmite on the toast personally, but carry on….

I might scrape the bit on the left. More important is that the toast MUST BE COLD and you MUST USE BUTTER not margarine or hydrogenated vegetable fat. Once a good layer of butter has been added, the thick-cut marmalade goes on top.

aha. Backwipes are a common problem. You need 2 butter tubs. One for the tidy sorts and one for the backwipers.

Clearly I’m prone to suggestion: 3 thick slices of medium browned Marmite ladened loveliness later.

Ah I love a game of toaster roulette–keeps you sharp
Yep I’d eat it–once the flames have died back it’s fine

Better if it was a big, thick, slightly charred crust with loads of butter.

Everyone seems to have overlooked what can only be described as a profound miracle! Look! Look closer! There’s absolutely no face in either slice, thus proving, beyond all doubt, that atheism is the one true path!! All hail gofasterstripes, for he has been chosen accidentally to reveal this great coincidence!

Looks close to perfect to me.

(I bake my own bread, and when I cut it, it tends to come out pretty wobbly. Which means when I toast it, it comes out all lovely and varied so some of it will be rare, some well done, some basically on fire. The perfect toast)
