I just went to the shed to fix one bike which wasn’t successful (need a new gear cable) so I decided to change the cranks on my other bike. This lead to a shock service which lead to me stripping the suspension due to knackered bearings. This reminded me I need a new headset bearing.
I decided to call it a night before I found any more problems.

Sounds like you wandered into the wrong garage & found my bikes…!

Hope you turned the light off on the way out…..?

Just been looking at replacement bearings. A semi decent bearing is going to cost at least £5 and ther at 10 in total,
Hopefully the bearing shop by work can do them a bit cheaper. I’m loathed to put cheap ones in but doubt that expensive ones are worth up to 12x the price.

    Happened to me last week.

Cleaned bike, found the rear wheel bearings needed a service.

Then noticed bottom bracket was shot.

Stipped off cranks, and found a massive crack in the frame behind at the weld with the BB shell.

So frame stripped down, and boxed up and back off to the builder.

Built up parts back onto old frame (luckily I hadn’t sold it)

Then found seatpost from new frame wouldn’t fit in old frame.

    And front mech.

    PANTS!!!!!

    An expensive and traumatic day…
