I’ve thought that before Matt. There are loads of woodlands for sale, wonder why no MTB groups have stepped in to buy them?

that’s pretty expensive land when you’re buying the standing timber too.

It’s cheaper to by heath or even pasture, plant up your own willows etc.

Don’t they have a load of restrictive convenants attached that basically mean you can’t do anything other than stand around in them?

Any form of sitting is strictly forbidden.

Do we get to cut down all the pine and replant proper trees?

Most convenants are just there to prevent you annoying your neighbour, so things like rock concerts, commercial camp sites etc are out (which may get stopped by planing anyway).
Something that wasn’t too noisy would be ok, that’s what mine says anyway.

Depends, pine trees are native, it’s huge larch plantations that are soulless, but a lot of those are being cut, because of the phytotheria that’s infecting forests. Does mean there’s lots of timber around that’s good for building with.

I find the close knit pine forests soulless much better with mixed woodland.

    That’s better.
