Ive seen one too many photos of me looking like Cadfael the monk, even though i use my Remington clippers without the guard on to shave my head.

There seems to be a Remington RX5 or RX7 and also a horribly named pitbull shaver too.

What do all you dapper gents recommend?

    Thanks

I’ve got a Babyliss Crew Cut which is great – providing you want a variant of a crew cut…

I haven’t taken any lumps out of my head and its probably paid for itself a 100 times over!

GQ recommended the RX7 – which I’ve recently ordered. Had a Wahl foil shaver for a while but it gave up the ghost and took as long as doing it with a DE Safety Razor. I’ve just used that DE razor (Merkur Futur, with Feather blades) on my head for years, takes a bit of learning but once you’ve got the knack of it it’s pretty easy.

I bought this head clipper/shaver thingy a few months ago but as I have a full head of hair/not balding (I can’t be arsed with hair on my head/face) it can’t really cope with shaving my head every couple of days and leaves razor burn, it takes ages to cut all the stubble with multiple passes so it’s quicker/easier to run my head under the shower whilst I use my cheap Aldi razor every day

I’d perhaps try a better model but I’m not wanting to waste money on something that goes blunt and needs expensive replacement cutters.

Tried various clippers, a skull shave thingy etc etc over the years. Now buy aldi own brand three blade disposable razors and bic it in the shower every other day. Takes (once you get the knack) a minute to do. It took longer to clip it or use the skull shave thing.
Just use a new razor every 2-3 weeks.

Another vote for the Babyliss. I whiz mine over my baldy bonce every morning with no guard. It stops me looking like Ian Duncan-Smith, which nobody wants

I had one which was used daily for years which eventually died, so I just bought another

I’ve got a Remington Quick Cut which I like, works fine for a variety of lengths.

Except for the length that the OP is after 🙂

I’ve got some wahl thing that is waterproof, the battery is phenomenal. Seems to last forever

I still cut my hair and beard using the dog clippers I bought at the start of Covid. £20 and they do the dog as well

I use a Remington, looks like a cross between a computer mouse and a SF space ship thing. Got it at the beginning of lockdown, been using it ever since with a 1.5mm comb on it. Does the whole of my head in about 5 minutes or so.

RX7 for me. Does the job very quickly, you can use it wet or dry, rinses clean. Holds enough charge for a couple of weeks’ worth of balderising.  I use mine in the shower but works just as well dry.

I have an RX-5. It works really well as long as I use it every 2 or 3 days. If I leave it any longer, I need to quickly go over my bonce with a trimmer first.

I’ve just put a new blade/foil on it after a couple of years use. I hadn’t realised how much the performance.had tailed off because it happened gradually. It was taking a lot more passes to get down to the wood. Now it’s really quick again, so I’ll be changing it a bit more often.

    RX7 here.

I had an RX5 previous and they’re both very similar. USB charging on the 7 is the only benefit over the 5.

RX7 here and it’s good – has the occasional false start but wait a few secs and punch the button a few times and it starts ok. It’s a 2 minute job and wil cope with a few days growth.

It tends to do this if it’s got bits of hair lodged in the rotating blades. Instantly cured by whipping off the outer cutting part and tapping to remove the build up.

I just wet shave every couple of days, doesn’t take any longer than using clippers. I also have some Whal clipper that with no guard on is really silly close shave but I think because the blade is very fine it does get clogged very easy. I’ll use it if I’ve been lazy and not wet shaved for a few days. Its very good though, waterproof and baterry last ages.

Wet shaving is best, but you can’t keep a beanie on when its freshly shaven, just rides up the back of your head!!….

Not an issue with a day or two’s stubble, in fact it might not come off at all! I’ve also trashed a few of my wife’s favourite Egyptian cotton pillow cases with my “stubbly velcro head”.

Just used my Remington RX7 for the second time and I’m well impressed with it. It’s the first proper head shaver I’ve had though.

My mate got a cheapie Amazon one yesterday with about a million blades on it! He tried it last night and was impressed but I guess time will tell on how long it lasts (it was only £25 though).
