    Any recommendations?

My Bendix (only 2 years old) is hopeless at dealing with trail mudded gear. The conditioner wont go in work dispite having the toothbrooth treatment on the inside box

Now need to rinse gear all off outside before putting them in 👿

How many put their heavy soiled's straight in?

    And does the m/c cope?

Buy one from John Lewis with a long guarantee. I think they do 5 years for free on some electricals.

Anything by Bosch or, if you can stretch to it, Miele.

+1 for Miele, we've had ours for 3 years and it's brilliant, cleans well and is very quiet

our indesit has done 10 years of seriously muddy bike kit

in that time i've had to replace the main drum bearing (£8) and change the interior paddles (£40) and that's it!

can't fault it, it'll probably die now as i already have the dishwasher apart awaiting spare parts 🙁

    Is Miele German?

Edit: yep just checked – a rider's wife's friend was saying she washes with a Miele – fully soiled too!

We bought Miele on the strength of the 10 yr guarantee they were offering at the time. Expensive but it's not put a foot wrong in 3 years.

OK, burning question for me then –

Who puts in fully soiled, and who rinses

And who stands at the back door while the missus hoses them down 😛

Fully soiled straight in for me, although quite a lot of mud seems to fall off in the car on the way home… 🙄

straight in, i didn't buy a washing machine to have to spray myself with a hose before using it

if america can elect a black president then i'm damn sure the world has reached the point where those in the west no longer need to resort to washing clothes like peasants in the middle ages 🙂

The whole point of my thread

But why do we need to resort to Teutonic efficiency (& expense)

    John Lewis own brand.

Made in Germany, by one of the big German brands (can't remember which), but £300 cheaper.

Not as cheap as the really cheap ones, but a whole lot cheaper than fancy Miele etc. and seems to work fine.

Obviously mudguards on the bike too, but then only an idiot rides without mudguards this time of year, so I'm sure you have them!
